Pet Photography
Booking your session
We will have a creative consultation prior to the session to help us understand what you are looking for and to discuss your pets personality.
We recommend your pet’s photo session be earlier in the morning, late afternoon or early evening as the natural light is better and it is not as hot for our four-legged friends.
Choosing the location
The pet’s home is always a good choice, especially with cats and shy dogs. They are much more comfortable in their own environment. Dog parks and open space is good for more outgoing dogs. Your pet’s safety and comfort are the primary concern. Believe it or not, most of the dogs we photograph outdoors are on a leash. We will remove the leash in the photo at no cost.
What to expect during your session.
When you arrive at our studio you will be greeted warmly and we will get to know you and what you are looking for in your pet’s portrait. We will have coffee, water, soft drinks and snacks for you and your pet to enjoy while we discuss your needs in portraiture. We will then go to the camera room for your portrait. We will make you and your pet feel relaxed and guide you through the process taking several portraits in various poses. Once you feel satisfied with the number of poses taken we will go to the proofing session, or if time is tight, we can load the images to our on-line gallery.
Your Pet Should Look Their Best
If your dog has long fur it would be a good time for a bath and a trim. Your pet wants to look their very best for you. Food is an excellent motivator for most dogs. Feed your pet a little less than usual, take your dog for a walk before the session helps your pet to maintain attention during the session. Allow your pet to “do their business” prior to the session. Bring your pets favorite toy and some treats. We will also have toys and treats on hand. Please let us know if your pet has any dietary restrictions.
What Should My Pet Wear?
Often, a nice collar is plenty! You may even want to splurge on a new one to match your outfit just for the photo shoot. If your pet is comfortable, outfits, hats, sunglasses, props and other accessories can be fun, too. Just be sure that your pet is comfortable in clothing or accessories – no one wants photos of their dog or cat
